The Hannah McCarthy Smith Memorial Scholarship

Thanks to the generous and heartfelt leadership of architect Khalil Hamady of Hamady Architects LLC in Charlottesville, Virginia, the ICAA now offers scholarships designated for its annual Rome Drawing Tour named in memorial honor of Hannah McCarthy Smith.

The Rome Drawing Tour takes place every June and guides both practitioners and amateurs alike in taking advantage of the unique classical assets of the world’s Eternal City.

Hannah Smith participated in the 2009 Rome Drawing Tour along with her mother, Patti Smith, a distinguished interior designer based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Vibrant, young Hannah died tragically after her return from Rome and just prior to assuming a new job in the wake of her graduation from Ohio Wesleyan University. Just as Hannah discovered the culture and history of Rome, so now can others honored by her namesake example.
