On February 7, 2023, the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) was proud to present the Second Annual Michael Lykoudis Lecture: The Shared Building Traditions of the World, featuring Marieanne Khoury-Vogt, Co-Principal with Erik Vogt of Khoury Vogt Architects. Her lecture, Style & Substance: Designing a New Urbanist Town in the 21st Century, originally open to ICAA Members only during its live stream, is now available to watch online in its entirety.
Marieanne is primarily known for her work as an architect and urban designer with the town of Alys Beach, Florida. The practice, currently based in Alys Beach, FL., engages projects of a variety of scales, programs, and locales. Each is linked by a common purpose: to contribute to, and elaborate a worthwhile and memorable public realm. This is pursued through a firm grounding in local architectural traditions as well as the deployment and transformation of durable building types. During this presentation Marieanne will focus on the work she completed while in this role and share her floor plans, process, and images of her finished works.
Named in recognition of Michael Lykoudis’ incredible contributions as the former Dean of the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture, this series shines a light on the vernacular architecture intrinsic to locales around the world, and how they incorporate classical principles.
