Presented by William H. Childs Jr., Architect & Madison Hunt, Interior Designer
This course is the introduction to a two-part series on “Drawing the Corinthian Order.”
Instructed by Architect Bill Childs and Interior Designer Madison Hunt, the course will review the specific identity and origin of the Corinthian Order, including the origin myth by Vitruvius. It will provide an orientation to classical design principles and the laying out of the order, including the base, column, entablature, and capital. The first class will focus on drawing the block out order of the Corinthian column. Attendees will learn why the study of the classical orders is an essential foundation in the practice of both traditional and contemporary architecture.
The class is accessible to all skill levels. Please bring your own pencil, straight edge, and architect’s scale. After class, feel free to join colleagues in the Vault for drinks and conversation.
