Hosted by the Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter | 1.5 LUs
The symposium is a panel discussion comprising two academics (lead by Steven Semes of Notre Dame) and one practitioner. We will discuss why the teaching of cultural exchanges is an important facet in training contemporary architects. There will be a presentation of certain examples in Andalusia that are illustrative of the synthesis between the two traditions. We will explore the use of gardens in the built environment of both the Roman and Umayyad civilizations.
We will also present a theory as to why such building traditions are still being carried out in the United States.
Attendees of the lecture are eligible to receive 1.5 AIA approved Learning Units.
This event is hosted by an ICAA Chapter. Please check the Chapter website, or contact the Chapter directly, for the most up-to-date details including dates, times, and pricing.
