This hands-on drawing course in The Elements of Classical Architecture sequence picks up where the Introduction to the Tuscan Order course leaves off.Tuscan Order in Design - Part I introduces the extended apparatus of classical forms, syntax and principles of composition related to the Tuscan Order. The course provides an orientation to the manner in which the Tuscan Order and related classical elements are combined to ensure each part is related to a larger whole and is tectonically sound.The Tuscan Order in Design – Part II explores the use of the Tuscan order within an interior and exterior architectural composition in a manner that ensures that the individual components of the design are integrated into a coherent and unified whole. The course introduces classical design principles, ‘rules of thumb’ and compositional devices and strategies that are deployed to achieve a design that exhibits the attributes of stability, legibility and harmony.This program will be held virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to the program the week prior to the event. Due to the hands-on nature of the course, registration is limited.
To enroll, participants must have completed the ICAA's Introduction to Classical Mouldings and Introduction to the Tuscan Order courses, or have equivalent experience, and be able to sketch and draft in pencil at a rudimentary level. Additionally, participation in Part I of this program is required for participation in Part II. The ICAA provides up to three complimentary spaces in each Continuing Education course for students or young professionals to attend. Upon signing up, you will be entered into a pool of applicants. Individuals will be randomly selected two weeks before the course begins, and all sign-ups will be notified via email. In order to apply for this program, please fill out this form. The ICAA National Office does not offer recurring continuing education classes on a regular basis, but aims to offer future sessions of classes whose demand exceeded capacity. Core classes are generally offered annually or semi-annually. The frequency of ICAA Chapter courses varies by region.

Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) in architecture includes topics that relate to the structural integrity and soundness of a building or a building site.
