3 AIA HSWs and 3 Credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture
This Workshop introduces classical architectural design as a vital part of contemporary practice. Traditional architecture today encompasses work that employs the grammar of the classical language and the adaptation of its principles in regional settings. This spectrum of expression is found in the full range of buildings comprising the traditional city and its neighborhoods, from private to civic edifices. Presentations and hands-on studio and measured drawing will introduce the elements of the classical architectural language and demonstrate ways in which architects utilize the wealth of material found in precedents as a resource to inform new design. The Workshop concludes with a panel discussion.
