5 AIA CES Learning Units|HSW and 10 credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture
This program, presented in collaboration with the University of Colorado Denver, introduces the practice of classical architectural design with emphasis on its application in the design of new buildings and places. Traditional architectural design encompasses work that employs the grammar of the classical language and the adaptation of its elements and principles to regional settings. This spectrum of expression may be found in the full range of buildings comprising the traditional city and its neighborhoods, from private to civic edifices.Presentations on Friday and Saturday feature case studies of recent professional work in this field, introduce the elements of the classical architectural language, and demonstrate ways in which architects utilize the wealth of material found in precedents to inform the design of new buildings.Photo: Byron White Courthouse - Colorado, Denver by Tom MatthewsThe ICAA's Workshops in Classical Architecture are generously funded by The Benton Family Foundation.
