Hosted by the Ohio Lake Erie Chapter
This event will be led by two local tour guides and a practicing architect. It will include a gallery tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts’ collection of Ancient Greek and Roman antiquities, a break for lunch and an architectural walking tour of the Detroit Cultural Center; the Detroit Institute of Arts museum building, the Detroit Public Library and the Ferry Street neighborhood. Guides will emphasize the coordinated classical, neo-classical and beaux arts design of objects, architecture, the allied arts, and urban form. The relationships among large and small-scale design concepts, elements, and materials in the overall grouping of buildings and the incorporation of allied arts within those buildings will be discussed as they relate to human experience, quality of life, and overall well-being.
Scholarships are available for students. Please contact [email protected] for details.
