The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is pleased to announce the next event in the Breakfast & Books series, in partnership with the Rizzoli Bookstore. Once again, the Rizzoli Bookstore will welcome ICAA members and guests before store hours on Wednesday, April 3, to hear from award-winning landscape architect Edmund Hollander, FASLA, and Melissa Reavis of HOLLANDERdesign|Landscape Architects, who will be discussing Judith Tankard's book Gertrude Jekyll and the Country House Garden: From the Archives of Country Life.
Edmund Hollander is president of HOLLANDERdesign|Landscape Architects, one of the few landscape architecture firms elected to Architectural Digest’s AD100 List. The firm is comprised of landscape architects, environmental planners, and horticulturists working across three offices in New York, Sag Harbor, and Chicago. Ed is on the Dean’s Council and the Advisory Board of the Ian L. McHarg Center for Urbanism and Ecology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a board member of the New York Restoration Project, is Past President of the New York Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and is an elected Fellow of the ASLA, one of the society’s highest honors.
Melissa is a senior associate at HOLLANDERdesign | Landscape Architects and oversees a varied portfolio of projects, from large country estates to intimate courtyard gardens. As a residential studio director, she plays an integral role in the design and coordination of the firm’s work - from initial concept through final construction. Melissa has created several award-winning single-family residences, many of which have been featured in Architectural Digest and other publications.
Projects by HOLLANDERdesign|Landscape Architects are featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Avenue Magazine, Garden Design, House Beautiful, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, and in numerous books on landscapes and gardens. Its work is the focus of three critically acclaimed books: Gardens for The New Country Place, The Private Oasis, and The Good Garden.
HOLLANDERdesign|Landscape Architects has won the ASLA’s National Honor Award in the residential design category five times, and Honor and Merit awards from the New York Chapter of ASLA twelve times. In addition, the firm has twice been awarded the ICAA’s Stanford White Award in Landscape Architecture.
Light refreshments will be available before the presentation. Advance registration is required. Doors open at 9:00 AM.
