Hosted by the Rocky Mountain Chapter
In celebration of the upcoming 2023 Jacques Benedict Awards on September 28th, we are thrilled to bring you a kick off Columns & Coffee to admire some of the beautiful work of Jacques Benedict. Concentrated along the eastern edge of Cheeseman Park stand eight outstanding examples of architect Jacques Benedicts’ residential output, all completed within an eight-year period between 1920 and 1928. These works evidence Benedicts’ skill working across styles and materials, creating unique structures that respond to their prominent contexts on some of Denver’s most celebrated parks and parkways. An esteemed early 20th Century Denver architect and graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jacques Benedict (1879-1947) produced nearly 80 Beaux Arts style buildings in the Rocky Mountain region. The classical proportions, ornamentation and unmatched beauty of Benedict’s designs continue to serve as an enduring source of delight and inspiration.
