In this lecture, Pieter Estersohn will introduce his new book, Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family (Rizzoli). The renowned photographer presents thirty-five sublime country homes overlooking the majestic Hudson River, offering some of the finest examples of stately American architecture built between 1730 and 1946—all originally owned by members of the Livingston family and their descendants.Estersohn’s photography provides a comprehensive private visit to the architectural legacy, picturesque gardens, and contemporary design of the present owners who include members of the Livingston family as well as celebrities who have navigated to the Hudson Valley. Most of these are photographed for the first time.
Copies of Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family will be available for purchase after the lecture. This event is hosted by and presented in collaboration with the New York School of Interior Design.
