Hosted by the Southern California Chapter
Founded in 1781, present day Los Angeles County blossomed into a group of 88 diverse cities. This collective area coalesced at the turn of the 20th century when design practitioners were summoned from the world over to create cinematic backgrounds for the burgeoning, and lucrative, motion-picture business.
Diverse topography and enviable weather mixed with tremendous wealth, plus architects, designers, and contractors who design and construct world-admired homes, have rendered LA “the finest residential real estate market in the world.”
Along with business expansion, new homes and neighborhoods emerged: organic, original, classic, eccentric. As a result, Los Angeles fosters an extraordinary vernacular. Where else can one find a beach bungalow, a mountain-top aerie or an indigenous desert adobe? Then, a fabled Mediterranean villa, a sky-high penthouse, or even a San Fernando Valley ranch, all seeming moments from each other.
