Hosted by the ICAA Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter
McAlpine Architects partner Greg Tankersly runs the firm's New York office which has produced design work around the country including our Mid-Atlantic region. Join Mr. Tankersly on January 22 at the historic Georgetown Club to see and discuss a renown firm's work, from modernism to classicism, all uniquely romantic. "Drawing floor plans in blue ink on scratch pads, we begin with what's on the inside of the house," exclaims Tankersly whose crisp yet soulful houses have been featured in four books including, EVOCATIVE INTERIORS; THE HOME WITHIN US; POETRY in PLACE and ROMANTIC MODERNISM.
An Alabama native with an architecture degree from Auburn University, Greg joined the burgeoning firm of Bobby McAlpine, in 1985. His unique talent and proven leadership skills led to a name partnership in the firm in 1997. For decades, Greg’s award-winning designs have garnered national and international recognition, appearing countless times in numerous prestigious publications, including Architectural Digest, Veranda, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home and Southern Accents. Greg’s work, and that of the firm, are four-time recipients of the Stanford White Award, presented by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art in New York. After almost 30 years in Montgomery, Alabama, Greg relocated to New York City in 2015 to lead the McALPINE office in Manhattan. Greg’s passions include cooking and a love of the theatre (he served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival). With a consummate enthusiasm for his profession, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Leaders of Design Council. Greg and his wife Mary Robin split their time between New York and their country house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Their daughter, Sullivan, lives in Dallas. Greg can be reached at our New York office.
Greg Tankersly will sign books-on-sale after his hour-long lecture. Refreshments will be served.
