Michael G. Imber, Architects is a modern classical design firm based in San Antonio, Texas. We are a studio of individuals sharing a commitment to cultural memory and to the continuum of traditional architecture and urbanism. It is our belief that craft, material, environment, and place are a given inheritance and a meaningful complement to our modern lifestyles.
We are recognized for a body of work that is strong in historic knowledge, yet modern in its execution. Although the firm is known for its high-end residential, work includes restaurants, churches, and college campus buildings. Our current projects are in California, Florida, Montana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arkansas, Washington D.C., Mexico, as well as throughout Texas.
Candidate Qualifications
The qualified candidate should have a BARCH, actively working towards a license, and have at least 3-5 years of professional experience. Experience in traditional and classical standards recommended. The ideal candidate must possess the following traits: exceptional communication, time management, basic computer skills, motivated, driven, high integrity, team oriented and a strong work ethic.
Prefer a candidate with interests in interpretation of historic precedents, residential design, urban planning and new urbanism, an understanding of building craft, material, and the process of traditional design. Strong drawing skills to communicate and visualize spaces required. Ability to develop 3-D models and work in AutoCAD and Sketchup required, Revit skills a plus. Freehand rendering and watercolor skills a plus.
Position Description
Architectural team member with the responsibility to assist the project from schematic design through construction administration stages. Assist in the development of the scope of the project, and outside consultants to verify compliance with company design and technical standards, building codes, project criteria and timelines.
Specific duties include: Responsible for managing project workload through all design phases to complete documents on schedule. Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines. Develop architectural specifications. Review the work of all outside consultants. Provides construction contract administration. Stay current on changing code requirements and construction materials and methods. Coordinate and assist the project manager with any addendum, RFIs, and change orders. Assist in solving construction problems in the field to minimize change orders, expedite the work of the contractor, and create excellent living places for our clients.
