Duration: Two days per week (in-person at the ICAA’s office*). 3 months minimum. Schedule flexible.

Start Date: ASAP (flexible start date with respect to school schedules)

Compensation: $1,500 stipend

Reporting to: Membership Manager & Associate Director of Development & Operations

Internship Description: The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Membership & Development Intern. This person will gain a thorough understanding of nonprofit membership and development, as well as related database management, communications, and research skills. Training is provided for databases and email marketing platforms the ICAA currently uses including Raiser’s Edge and Constant Contact. The Membership & Development Intern is invited (but not required) to attend public programs, education programs, and other ICAA events.

Projects and Responsibilities

  • Assist Membership Manager with membership fulfillment, mailings, and other related tasks
  • Help draft and send acknowledgement letters for donations associated with membership, as well as for other donations as needed
  • Assist with membership or development-related upkeep of Constant Contact and the website
  • Assist with proofing content and collecting images for program listings on the website
  • Assist in drafting and sending letters of correspondence as needed
  • Complete prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Assist with mailings related to special events and any campaigns, including organizing letters, labels, and mailing lists
  • Assist with organizing the database, processing bounced mail, data correction efforts as needed
  • Provide general administrative support to Development Department as needed
  • Complete the Raiser’s Edge Fundamentals Certification Exam

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Database experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Self-directed, energetic, and eager to handle new projects
  • Currently pursuing a degree or recent college graduate with interest in the arts and nonprofits
  • Prior experience working in a non-profit preferred, but not required
